We had the fortunate opportunity recently to catch up with Gloria Lee who's extremely busy working on her clothing line Tissh. We asked her these questions:

What made you decide to go into fashion?

G.L. - I always felt that I would end up in fashion - I just didn't know it would be so fast. I grew up watching Fashion Television, loved the creative process of drawing and making crafts, and always had a flair for the arts. Whenever I'd go shopping for clothes, I'd imagine how I would make the outfit different - now I can actually do it!

What is your earliest fashion memory?

G.L. - The earliest fashion memory that I have is of me doodling evening gowns with sweetheart necklines. I think that was when I was in grade 2 or 3. I don't remember growing up with any particular fashion influence, it just came from inside me - a passion and love for the way clothing helped to express one's mood.

How would you describe your fashion designs?

G.L. - My designs are made to complement the woman’s body, are comfortable yet still luxurious, and well-made. It's for the woman who is not afraid to be themselves. My collection aims to dress women in modern silhouettes, be comfortably sexy and promotes the awareness of feeling good in your own skin. Something a modern woman knows how to do - well :o)

Are there any fashion designers you admire, and if so, can you name a few?

G.L. - Marc Jacobs – I like his fresh and modern take on fashion
Diane von Furstenberg – I admire her ability to transcend the apparel realm into house and home, fragrance, books, etc.

If you had to give only one piece of advice to budding fashion designers, what would it be?

G.L. - Persevere. Don't give up. If fashion design is something you truly love to do, just do it. Whatever you desire and visualize, you can manifest.
